How to Install Lightroom Presets on Desktop, Lightroom CC, and Lightroom Mobile

1. Installing Presets on Lightroom Desktop (Classic)

  1. Download and Unzip the Presets: Start by downloading the preset files to your computer. If they are in a zip file, unzip them to access the .xmp

  2. Open Lightroom Classic: Launch the Lightroom Classic application on your computer.

  3. Navigate to the Develop Module: In the top right corner, click on the "Develop" tab to switch to the Develop module.

  4. Import Presets:

    • In the Presets panel on the left side, click on the “+” icon and select “Import Presets”.

    • Navigate to the folder where your .xmp files are located, select them, and click “Import”.

  5. Apply Presets: Your imported presets will now appear in the Presets panel under the specified group. To apply a preset, simply click on its name while editing a photo.

2. Installing Presets on Lightroom CC

  1. Download and Unzip the Presets: Download the preset files to your computer and unzip them if necessary to access the .xmp files.

  2. Open Lightroom CC: Launch the Lightroom CC application on your computer.

  3. Import Presets:

    • Click on the “Edit” icon (three sliders) in the top right corner.

    • At the bottom of the editing panel, click on the Presets button (it looks like two overlapping circles).

    • Click on the three dots at the top right of the Presets panel and choose “Import Presets”.

    • Navigate to the folder containing the .xmp files, select them, and click “Import”.

  4. Apply Presets: Your imported presets will now be available in the Presets panel, ready to be applied to any photo you’re editing.

3. Installing Presets on Lightroom Mobile (Using .xmp Files)

  1. Transfer .xmp Files to Your Mobile Device:

    • If the files are on your computer, transfer them to your mobile device using a cloud service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud. Ensure they are accessible from your mobile device’s file manager.

  2. Install the Lightroom Mobile App: If you haven’t already, download and install the Lightroom Mobile app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

  3. Import Presets into Lightroom Mobile:

    • Open Lightroom Mobile on your device.

    • Create a new album or navigate to an existing one.

    • Tap the Add Photos button (usually a plus icon).

    • Select “From Files” (or a similar option) to access your file manager.

    • Locate and select the .xmp files you transferred.

    • The files will be imported as new images with the presets applied to them.

  4. Create Presets in Lightroom Mobile:

    • Open one of the imported preset images in Lightroom Mobile.

    • Tap on the three dots icon in the top right corner and select “Create Preset”.

    • Name your preset, choose a preset group (e.g., User Presets), and save it.

    • Repeat this for each imported preset image.

  5. Apply Presets: Your new presets are now saved in the Presets section. To apply a preset, simply open an image, tap the Presets button, and select your desired preset.
